I/we have been tossing up installing a solar system (PV array) for some time, but finally bit the bullet and did it.
11KW of panels (40 x 275W -half each on the east/west roof)
Assuming the monitoring website is up, below should be a graph of our current/instant power generation or historical energy generated. (Only shows what is ‘current’ as this is the public view and not password authenticated)
and so, finally, it’s done.
My chosen wood badge (advanced scouting leader training for the initiated) was around the theme of tracking badgework.
Specifically I chose to create colour wall charts on badge completion for the Joey, Cub, Scout and Venturer sections.
These are freely available for any scouter to use. Well, actually, for ANYBODY to use according the the Creative Commons license but they’re probably of no use to anyone except a scouter.
You’ll find them in a single ZipFile located at http://www.moxey.net.au/WoodBadge/
The late night meanderings on eBay and social media sometimes can lead to ideas.
I was buying some belt buckles (to fix a broken backpack) and for some reason, there was a link to a pump.. so I looked at it. ( http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/380978062119 )
Then got to thinking about what I could use a pump for. Hmmn.. an automated watering system would be nice.
But how to power it??? Ahh.. solar! http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/321009175949
OK. yet to purchase but have idea for a water submersible water pump and how to power it. I have a solution, but what is the ‘problem’ I need it for? A hydroponic/aquaponic garden of course!
Queue the youtube searches wherein I settled on this idea – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rj4MzjxjGck complete with links to a dropbox PDF file on what you need and how to make it – https://www.dropbox.com/s/v7gnn66hqfoh0wc/DIY%20Hydroponic%20Garden%20Tower.pdf
Now all I need is the free time and inclination to do it.. Watch this space!
